Midway College proudly set sail at the Annual Maritime Expo Philippines, held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on June 11-12, 2024. This prestigious event, organized by the Worldwide Maritime Operations Company (WMOC), provided a platform to showcase the vast potential of the Philippines’ maritime industry and the exciting career paths it offers. 

The Midway College booth buzzed with activity as students eager to explore maritime careers stopped by. Apart from the informative brochures detailing academic programs, a fun spin-the-wheel game with exciting giveaways added an interactive touch to the booth, which helped create interest in Midway Colleges’ transformative education experience. 

Beyond student engagement, the Expo proved to be a valuable networking opportunity. Representatives from leading maritime agencies like Meijing Mining Company and Fastcat visited the booth, sparking discussions about potential employment opportunities for Midway graduates and emphasizing the practical applications of transformative education. This connection fosters a strong bridge between education and industry, ensuring students are well-equipped for success. 

The spirit of collaboration extended to educational institutions as well. Representatives from TESDA and Southville expressed interest in partnering with Midway College to further the impact of transformative education, fostering a collaborative environment that strengthens maritime education in the Philippines. 

Midway College student Karl Rueda Himantog took center stage, impressing attendees with his in-depth knowledge of Collision Regulations and Rules of the Road, a testament to the transformative education he has received. He actively participated in a Q&A session on his aspirations as a seaman, showcasing the caliber of talent nurtured by the college. Mr. Himantog, along with Yvan Angeline Tan, further exemplified teamwork by winning a prize in another engaging activity, demonstrating the importance of collaboration within the maritime field.

Midway Colleges, Inc., dedication to academic excellence, played an active role in the esteemed EduData 2024 summit, organized by QS Quacquarelli Symonds Limited and hosted by the American University of the Middle East. Centered on the theme ‘AI and Digitally Empowered Education,’ the summit was held at Capital Turnaround, Washington, D.C., from June 5-6, 2024. Embracing modern conveniences, this year’s summit adopted a hybrid approach, welcoming attendees both on-site and online.

EduData Summit served as a global forum where data-driven educators, platform strategists, data scientists, CIOs, and other experts converged to share best practices at the intersection of big data, predictive analytics, learning analytics, and education.
